ACCREDITED WORKSHOPS

SLED is accredited to offer the following accredited Unit Standards in South African Sign Language.

 115074 – Engage in short conversations with a Deaf person on a familiar topic using SASL (6 credits)

115079 – Perform everyday communicative tasks using South African Sign Language (4 credits)

 115813 – Hold conversations with Deaf individuals and groups of Deaf people on an unfamiliar topic using SASL (6 credits)

115814 – Paraphrase and summarise signed monologues on familiar topics using South African Sign Language (4 credits)

115803 – Explain complex processes to Deaf individuals and groups of Deaf people, using South African Sign Language (3 credits)

The Unit Standards are combined into courses, are offered by experienced Deaf facilitators and include extensive course materials.

SLED also offer intensive purpose-specific SASL workshops,  which are not accredited.  These can be designed for particular workplace needs or for parents of Deaf children. Public SASL workshop dates are announced at least month before the time on this website. These classes are usually not accredited.
